From an early age, Gillian Overland knew she wanted to become a lawyer. Inspired by her father, a respected attorney, she learned that the practice of law is about far more than statutes and courtrooms—it's about helping people through difficult situations with practical advice, honest counsel, and strategic guidance. His example shaped not only her decision to pursue a legal career, but also the way she practices today.

As the founder and managing attorney of Overland Law & Mediation Firm, Ms. Overland believes that effective legal representation begins with listening. She is committed to understanding each client's unique circumstances, explaining the law in clear and practical terms, and helping clients understand their options so they can make informed decisions. Her approach is grounded in practical advice, honest counsel, and strategic guidance tailored to each client's unique goals and priorities.

Ms. Overland's practice focuses on business and commercial law, special education law, employment law, mediation, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. She advises businesses, families, and individuals across a broad range of legal matters, tailoring her advice and strategy to each client's unique circumstances and objectives.

Over the past twenty-five years, Ms. Overland has developed broad experience counseling clients, negotiating and documenting transactions, resolving disputes, and representing clients in administrative proceedings, mediation, and litigation. She brings that breadth of experience to every matter she handles. Whether advising clients on business transactions, helping them navigate complex legal issues, or representing them in litigation, she helps clients anticipate challenges, evaluate their options, and make informed strategic decisions.

Ms. Overland earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from McGill University in 1998 and her Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School in 2001. She is admitted to practice law in California, New York, and New Jersey, as well as before the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of New York. She has earned Martindale-Hubbell's AV Preeminent® rating, the organization's highest peer-review distinction for professional excellence and ethical standards. She was recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2013 and has been selected to Super Lawyers annually since 2015. Ms. Overland is also a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the California Lawyers Association.

Outside of her legal practice, Gillian enjoys reading, practicing yoga, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
